AMBA and BGA: three sites on one platform, and search 30% faster

4 Roads moved the Association of MBAs' two WordPress sites onto one headless platform: three sites run from one place, with search 30% faster.

The brief

Two brands on two sites that did not share their content.

AMBA, the Association of MBAs, and its Business Graduates Association (BGA) ran on two separate WordPress sites that did not share their content. Search was slow, pages loaded slowly, and a long list of plugins made the sites hard to update and a security worry.

Its goals were ambitious: grow BGA's member schools from 236 to 500, increase brochure downloads and registrations for its capacity-building workshops, and become a recognised voice through its insights, events and magazines. For that, its two brands had to work together, and be easier to run.

Phase 1: one platform

Three sites, and one place to run them.

4 Roads built a headless content architecture that shares content across three new sites: AMBA, BGA and AMBA-BGA. Each brand has a site, and a presence in search, of its own, while everything is administered in one place.

The platform connects to Microsoft Dynamics 365, SurveyMonkey and Zoom, among others. The insights, articles and events pages were redesigned to be easier to use and quicker to update, since they are how AMBA builds its voice.

Phase 2: search

Search that answers as you type, 30% faster.

AMBA's old search was slow and hard to narrow down. The new one shows results as you type, has clearer filters, and returns results 30% faster, so more visitors find their way to AMBA's insights and events.

Phase 3: administration

One admin page for BGA's schools, events and domains.

4 Roads built an admin page for the Business Graduates Association's site, where its team manages schools, events and domain authorisations in one place, leaving more of its time for growing the membership.

Results

Faster, joined up, and easier to run.

AMBA now runs both brands on one platform, with its CRM and other tools connected and its content managed once for three sites.
