As my colleague Rob mentioned in his blog last week, we’re delighted by some of the latest announcements we’ve been hearing from the Telligent camp. Telligent has always been a first class community platform but what we’ve been hearing over these past few days really does reinforce our belief that with Telligent, you will have everything you need to build incredible social communities.
There is no doubt that we are seeing a company that is going through an interesting transition and one of the phrases we’ve been hearing is “Love the Developer.” According to Rob Howard, founder of Telligent, more than ever the impetus is going to be on the build concept.
What is ‘Love The Developer?
Telligent developer audiences can be categorised into two groups:
- Developers inside digital agencies such as 4 Roads – those responsible for implementing communities for their customers.
- Marketing teams within organisations, who also want to do unique and creative things with the platform.
Telligent are keen to ensure that they make it really easy for both types of user to add value by going onto the platform and doing interesting things in a sustainable manner.
Telligent’s desire has always been to provide a platform that both customers and partners can truly build on top off – it’s clear that from 9.0 onwards; customers and partners will start to see some big leaps forward.
A combination of speaking to customers and data analysis has resulted in Telligent making decisions on where they focus their efforts for future releases and from what we saw in the excellent 9.0 preview delivered this week, it looks like they’re heading in the right direction.
Another thing that 4 Roads is particularly excited about is the long-term investment Telligent is making in Sitecore (www.sitecore.net).
Telligent will be introducing a new way of integrating with Sitecore based on feedback from Sitecore customers. Some of the exciting updates you can expect will be around the introduction of specific functionality in future Telligent releases for those clients running Sitecore so that customers can start taking advantage of the joint investment they’ve made in the platforms.
For those customers using the Sitecore connector, you will be pleased to hear that Telligent has made a commitment to share the source code. We’re also very excited to see the Sitecore SDK in GitHub. This allow users to interact withTelligent Community content natively within Sitecore – https://github.com/Telligent/Social-Sitecore-SDK
The bottom line is if you’re an agency and you want to bring in community experiences to a Sitecore environment, Telligent has just made this very easy!
Integrations and add-ons
Following on with the theme of being open and transparent, Telligent have started to open source all of their integrations and add-ons, whether it be SharePoint (now published on GitHub), Lync, Mobile SDK (now published on GitHub). All of these have been opened up to make Telligent super easy to work with.
The bottom line is that the Telligent platform is going to be more straightforward to work with than it’s ever been, presenting new opportunities for everyone, whether you are a customer or a partner. There really has never been a better time to start a social community!
