CREATING AN ONLINE DESTINATION WITH ENHANCED USER EXPERIENCE, SIMPLE NAVIGATION, AND DISCOVERABLE CONTENT

Box-it Central overhauled its existing WordPress website to ensure users could easily understand its service offering, access useful content, and make greater use of its Quote function.

Box-it Central is a regional franchise providing document management solutions. Covering England’s Central region, Box-it Central offers its services to a range of local businesses. The Box-it Central franchise, which forms part of a network of sixteen branches across the country which is run by Box-it Data Management Ltd.

Following a review of the boxit-central.co.uk website, it was concluded that the experience it offered users was insufficient. Its needed to be more solution-led and succinct to help visitors access key areas quickly and understand the business easily.

SOLUTION

Award-winning creative technology agency 4 Roads was engaged by Box-it Central to initiate a review and UX audit of the website prior to conducting a design and content structure overhaul. Specifically, Box-it Central wanted the audit to consider general user experience improvements and opportunities to improve the wider customer journey.

As part of its review, 4 Roads recommended a two-phase website improvement project. This would focus on addressing the main themes and issues it highlighted during the review. Wireframes were produced to help Box-it visualise the expected changes.

“The main thing was that the Box-it website had a lot of content, but it was hard to find,” said Luke Briggs, developer with 4 Roads. “Our focus was on making this more accessible and relevant as part of a broader plan to improve the usability of the site.”

The initial change saw 4 Roads reorganise the website’s navigation with the quotation form moved out of the header and Box-it Central’s core services – document storage, scanning and cataloguing, and shredding and destruction – added in its place.

A new standalone Get A Quote section was added to allow prospective customers to more easily and accurately submit their requirements to Box-it Central.

Individual service pages were redesigned with a new template to provide users with a clearer impression of the function, simpler navigation to related areas, and a CTA to the new quotation area.

In addition, access to Box-it Central’s wealth of content was improved through tagging all pages in the service section of the WordPress-build website. A new taxonomy was also added to ensure content would be identified appropriately.

4 Roads then came up with a mechanism to provide a better experience to the user by displaying relevant content, based on its tags, at the bottom of each key page in the services section.

BENEFITS

Thanks to the changes implemented by 4 Roads, boxit-central.co.uk now benefits from a more customer-friendly experience.

The design overall means visitors can more easily understand (and access) Box-it Central’s principal services, access its wealth of helpful content, and benefit from the improved Get A Quote function.

Changes to page hierarchy mean Box-it Central now works to a three-click principle – where users enter the site, go to a service page, then select an option to drill a further level down to access content, a quote, or something else.

In addition, the tagging process has made more than 150 blog, FAQ, case study and news items accessible as related content at the bottom of relevant pages and as a result created a more engaging experience for users as they navigate across the website.

“This is the result of 4 Roads putting in a lot of work upfront. They prepared a great roadmap. As a result, exaction was easy. That made a big difference, we really like that approach. I haven’t found another company that goes into detail like that. Execution was exactly as planned.”

RESULTS

The website now benefits from users dwelling longer for each session and drilling deeper.

The new Quote function has generated a 14% increase in leads for the Box-it Central website and a large percentage of users are now delving deeper into its rich library of content before clicking on the Get A Quote call to action.

Since the new website launched it has also recorded a 65% increase in users while page views are up 49%.
