`It’s been a bit quiet on our blog since the start of the year so we thought we’d kick start activity this spring with a very exciting project we have been working on.

Two 4 Roads products, Chronos and Nexus have been integral in the site build of www.sk.ru/en the website for Russia’s attempt at recreating a version of Silicon Valley. The Skolkovo Project as it is known, on the outskirts of Moscow, aims to provide an innovation city, housing entrepreneurs, innovators and providing a hotbed for new technology.

We are very proud to have provided a comprehensive solution for the Skolkovo site. Integrated with their existing Sitecore CMS using the REST API, the Chronos calendar allows scheduling and coordination of events, featured across the site. 

Chronos also enables the ability to map event locations, provide RSVP support and control event privacy levels, all fundamental in project communication and the projects success.  

Nexus, has been utilized to provide the Skolkovo Projects twitter feed on their homepage.  The Nexus product has also been extended to integrate with VK, the Russian Facebook equivalent which has over 100 million active users.

After attempts by various countries to recreate a version of Silicon Valley, the Skolkovo Project is no half hearted attempt. Having already had investment of around $300m in 2011 from the Russian government, there is a further expected investment of $4 billion by 2013. Only time will tell how this will develop but it is certainly one to watch moving forward into 2012 and beyond.
